The Manteca Junior Buffaloes varsity youth football team shellacked the Salida Steelers, 30-0, on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Manteca High.

Manteca’s Matthew Wilkerson ran for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, and Hector Soto carried 12 times for 84 yards.

Tony Smith added a 16-yard score, Garrett Devillenueva scored from one yard out, and Michael Hatfield also kicked three extra points.

“Once again, all the offensive stats started with the upfront linemen,” Manteca coach Shawn Carter said.

Devillenueva led the Buffaloes’ defense with nine tackles and a fumble recovery. Wilkerson had six tackles and two sacks, Hector Soto had five tackles and Chuck Good recorded four tackles and a sack.
