Manteca music festThe Manteca Music Festival will be 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Manteca Senior Center, 259 Cherry Lane.
Tickets are $10 per person, and the event will feature Gypsy Jazz Band — Swingdomonium and TradeWinds Dance Band, as well as local musicians and singers.
Proceeds will go to Manna Ministries, which helps feed the hungry, and Agape Villages Foster Family Agency.

Crime-fighting block partyManteca residents can come out and show their support for fighting crime in their community at the citywide Community Block Party on Sunday, Aug. 2.
The event — from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Library Park, 320 Center St., in Manteca — is free and will include food, games, booths and entertainment.
Anyone interested in hosting their own block party on National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 4, can contact the Manteca Department of Parks and Recreation or the Manteca Police Department to register for a random drawing to have a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog.

National Night OutThe city of Lathrop will celebrate National Night Out to deter crime Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Residents throughout the city will turn on their porch lights and spend an evening with neighbors to promote unity against crime. An event at Lathrop City Hall, 390 Towne Centre Drive, will start at 6 p.m.
Anyone interested in hosting a block party in their neighborhood that night can call Lathrop Police Services to learn more about it.

Sword tournament in senior center parkThe Society of Creative Anachronism Barony of Fettburg is hosting its annual championship tournament of medieval-style sword fighting. The tournament will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 in the park behind the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane.
The event is free, and the tournament will run 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by classes on medieval days, calligraphy, and other topics that will run 2 to 4 p.m.

Jaguars youth football luauThe Manteca Jaguars’ second Let’s Luau dinner-dance fundraiser will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Aug. 8.
The event will be in Emory Hall, 1028 W. Yosemite Ave., in Manteca and will include raffle prizes, dancing and entertainment. The meal is being catered by Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Manteca, and proceeds will go to the Manteca Jaguars youth football and cheer teams.
Tickets are $15 per person, and you must be 21 years old or older to attend. Reservations are required.

Fear of flying clinicThose who fear soaring into the wide-blue yonder might want to check out a fear of flying clinic on Aug. 8.
The will be two sessions, one beginning at 9 a.m. and another at 4:30 p.m., both at San Francisco International Airport. The workshop includes a behavioral therapist who will teach how to overcome anxiety, and a pilot will be on hand to answer questions.
Registration is required before Wednesday, Aug. 5, and tickets are $125 per person.
